The Lakeland Interpretive Society was established in 1995 and became a registered charity in 1999. Through a stewardship agreement with Lac La Biche County, the Lakeland Interpretive Society has been overseeing operations for the Lac La Biche Museum since 2014. The Society is dedicated to the development of a facility that will be the hub that provides interpretive, historical, and cultural programs to the Lac La Biche County and Lakeland Region.
The Lac La Biche Museum summer hours run from May to August, daily from 9am to 5pm.
From September to April, open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
We offer monthly programs which are free to attend. Donations are accepted.
Canoe Tales: Learn & Craft Program - In honour of Indigenous Peoples History Month on Saturday, June 14 | 3:00–4:00 PM

A fun and meaningful activity celebrating one of the most important Indigenous innovations: the canoe. Explore the rich history and cultural significance of canoes across North America, including right here in the Lac La Biche region. Then, let your creativity flow as you decorate your own cardboard paddle to take home! Perfect for families and learners of all ages, this hands-on activity connects art, heritage, and storytelling in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Vintage Toys & Games April 2 – July 1, 2025

Step back in time and relive the joy of childhood at the Vintage Toys & Games exhibit, running from April 2 to July 1, 2025, at the Lac La Biche Museum. Featuring over 70 iconic toys and games from the 1950s to the 1980s, this exhibit is a nostalgic journey through decades of play.
From colourful board games and action figures to handheld devices and classic consoles, visitors of all ages will find something to spark a memory or ignite curiosity. Highlights include:

Contemporary Indigenous Art Exhibit June 1 – August 31, 2025
In honour of Indigenous History Month, the Lac La Biche Museum invites you to explore a powerful exhibit celebrating the beauty, depth, and innovation of Indigenous art. From traditional moccasins to contemporary mixed media, each piece tells a story of connection, creativity, and cultural continuity.
